Earlier this month, Twitch retired its "Watch Parties," a feature similar to those found on other streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu, but with a slight twist. Watch Parties were intended to allow a Twitch streamer to watch a movie or a show from the Prime Video catalog and broadcast it on their channel while interacting with fans. It was basically the same as streaming a game and talking to their audience, only now it was a movie or a show.
Watch Parties were a big deal during the pandemic, as it allowed groups of friends and family — or in Twitch's case, entire communities of fans — to get together online and experience a movie or show without having to be physically in the same room.
Well, on April 2, Twitch retired the feature due to lack of usage. But with the highly anticipated debut of Prime Video's Fallout series, the feature will return temporarily once again.
Twitch is partnering with select streamers who will be allowed to broadcast the series premiere on their channels this Thursday, April 11. If you don't have a Prime Video subscription, you'll be able to tune into the following streamers channels and watch the first episode of the Fallout series alongside them:
- /Shroud
- /BrookAB
- /TheOnlyRyann
- /DEERE
- /CohhCarnage
- /KingGothalion
- /ThatBronzeGirl
- /DansGaming
- /SweetTails
- /Elspeth
- /Techniq
- /Swiftor
- /GassyMexican
- /Tooniversal
- /bloodyfaster
It's worth noting however that streamers may talk over the episode, like they would while playing a video.
If you want to watch the show without any chatter alongside it, then you'll probably want to stick to Prime Video. All eight episodes of Fallout will debut on Prime Video on April 11.
Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them. From executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld, starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and more. All episodes arrive April 11 on Prime Video.
Fallout is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, so it makes sense that Prime Video wants to attract gamers via Twitch. Only the first episode will be made available through the platform, so if you like it, you will have to get a Prime Video subscription to continue watching.
