Boston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price has been diagnosed with a mild case of carpal tunnel syndrome, leading some to question the team's addiction to video games - particularly
Fortnite. As reported by The Associated Press last month,
Fortnite has
"kind of taken over" the Boston locker room. Despite manager Alex Cora saying he doesn't think video games caused the injury, he acknowledged that he will have a discussion with the team about the popular game.
"From what I know, David has been playing video games his whole life," Cora told reporters.
"It seems like Fortnite now is the one everybody's playing, but last year I saw a lot of guys playing FIFA. That's all I know. There's a lot of teams playing Fortnite. But we'll talk about it."
Price and the rest of his teammates are hardly the only ones enthralled in the
Fortnite craze, as evidenced by a recent post from the Milwaukee Brewers.
However, when you have millions invested in a starting pitcher who is currently 2-4 with a 5.11 ERA and now sidelined with carpal tunnel syndrome - an injury often linked to esports athletes - you start to question everything,
Fortnite included.
For his part, David Price has vowed to stop playing
Fortnite while at the ballpark.
