Fortnite is an incredibly popular game on YouTube and Twitch, providing endless moments of awesomeness and hilarity. Now, Epic Games is making it easier for you to record and share your best Battle Royale moments with the world.
During Epic’s State of Unreal presentation at GDC, the developer unveiled
Fortnite’s new live record and replay feature. This new feature will allow players to revisit recorded matches, while also provided content creators with tools to make high quality videos. Epic announced the new replay feature with the help from YouTube Alastair Aiken, aka Ali-A. In the video below, he highlights some of the new replay tools, showcasing how players will be able to edit footage and control in-game cameras via a streamlined, gamepad-compatible interface.
Fortnite’s replay mode will let players choose from a variety of camera to capture these epic moments from multiple angles. Camera customization will include options for exposure, aperture, focal length, auto focus, and focus distance, allowing for content makers to create some really cinematic videos. Additionally, players will be able to toggle UI elements for player health and names.
Fortnite’s replay system is said to be coming to players “soon,” while Unreal Engine developers will get access to those features this summer as part of Unreal Engine’s version 4.20 release. Right now the feature has only been confirmed for consoles and PC.
It’s unclear if mobile players will have the ability to edit videos directly from their device or if they can save replay files and transfer them to PC for editing. Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney did reportedly spend a lot of time talking about how iOS and Android mobile games are quickly catching up to AAA console and PC games, so it’s definitely possible replay will be implemented in
Fortnite across mobile devices at some point in the future.
