Fortnite is back! The beloved battle royale game that was sucked away into a black hole on Sunday has returned. And while the core concept remains the same, a lot has changed - including the map, some gameplay features, and more.
Emerging from the black hole on Tuesday was a brand new map featuring 13 new Points of Interest and all-new ways to interact with the environment, including fishing, swimming and hiding in haystacks and dumpsters. Boats are also now in game, offering a new mode of transportation for you and your squad. Perhaps the most intriguing and welcomed new addition is the ability to upgrade your weapons using the resources you've collected at the upgrade bench.
There's also some new weapons, including the bandaid bazooka, which is featured briefly in the Chapter 2 trailer. This allows you to fire bandaids at teammates to restore some of their health. You're also now able to blow up gas tanks and explosive barrels around the map.
With the new season also comes a new Battle Pass filled with exciting cosmetic rewards, such as outfits, emotes, weapon wrappers, gliders and more. The Battle Pass has been slightly revamped and streamlined, providing more ways to level up. In an attempt to reduce the grind, you can now earn XP and medals from in-game activities like searching chests, eliminating opponents, completing challenges, and more. New to this season are emotes that you can perform with your teammates.
Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 1 is now live. Although the battle royale game is free-to-play, the Battle Pass costs $10. The good thing is that completing it allows you to earn 1,500 V-Bucks back, which is more than enough to purchase the next season's Battle Pass.
