Epic Games has announced that
Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 2, the next major refresh for the popular battle royale game, will arrive on Thursday, Febuary 20. It will release with the 11.50 update and will feature various surprises that Epic Games has decided to keep a secret.
New seasons and refreshes for
Fortnite typically introduce new features, game mechanics, weapons, etc. to the game.
Chapter 2 Season 1 introduced a brand new island with 13 new locations, water gameplay elements (fishing, swimming, motorboats), additional squad support and tactical options, hideouts and explosives, and more.
Chapter 2 - Season 2 will presumably continue to build upon and improve the current game. One of the biggest changes players will notice will likely stem from the game moving to Unreal Engine's Chaos physics system.
At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite. Along the way there will be some bumps, so we’re starting tests with a small group of players. We’ll also closely monitor feedback and make improvements over time.
The Chaos Engine, as the name suggests, excesl int he destruction of buildings and structures. Considering building and destroying is what
Fortnite emphasizes, this move presents some exciting opportunities.
Hopefully, we'll hear or see more about Chapter 2 - Season 2 in the coming weeks as we draw closer to the 11.50 update. Before it arrives,
Fortnite will host its annual Overtime Challenges along with a new two-week event.
