In case you didn't know,
Fortnite has a whole other part of the game separate from the popular
Battle Royale mode. It's called
Save the World and it's entirely PvE focused. On Friday, Epic Games offered a 'State of Development' update on all of the new features and updates coming to
Save the World.
The highlight of the post was that the Canny Valley campaign, as well as a new biome, are coming soon - shortly after update v5.0. According to Epic, Canney Valley will introduce a desert biome taking you through the
"Arid parts of the Fortnite world." Epic teased the upcoming campaign:
The story will answer many questions - was Dr. Vinderman a hero or a villain? What happened to him? Who is “the real Ray”, and where is she? What really is the Storm, and why did it happen? You’ll also see Lars and his band, “Steel Wool”, Dennis, Penny and all the other characters you love, along with iconic locations and enemies.
Epic isn't only adding a new biome, but new missions and enemy types as well. These are still in the prototype phase, but Epic says at least two new enemy types will be introduced in the next few months. In the short term, fans can expect a more powerful variant of the Shielder as well as the Zapper to be arriving shortly.
The post also addressed the newly implemented Player Reporting feature. Starting next week, you'll receive an in-game message notifying you when Epic has taken action against the players you reported so that you know the system is working. However, Epic warns that not every report will generate a penalty as it's geared toward serial offenders.
The Builder Pro control scheme is also coming to Save the World and is on track to arrive in update 4.5, along with the ability to separate out
Save the World and
Battle Royale keyboard key bindings.
"Challenge the Horde" - a mode focused on getting into combat quickly by dropping you into a map with a pre-built base and sending waves of enemies - has been reworked and will be re-introduced in update v5.0. You can
read all about the changes here.
And lastly,
Fortnite is turning one soon! More details about its anniversary celebration are coming soon.
