Star Wars Day is right around the corner and Fortnite is kicking off the festivities early. With today's update, several fan-favorite elements from the Star Wars franchise have found their way back into the battle royale game, including lightsabers and special character skins.
Star Wars Day will run as a two-week in-game event from May 3 until May 17, 2022. During this time, players will be able to wield different lightsabers and complete special Quests to unlock an Empire Banner. Every non-Battle Pass Star Wars Outfit that has previously been released will also be available for purchase from the Item Shop.
The four major lightsaber colors return to Fortnite, representing the Jedi/Sith weapons wielded by some of the most iconic characters in Star Wars. This year, we've got Luke Skywalker's green lightsaber, Kylo Ren's red lightsaber, and Mace WIndu's purple lightsaber. The signature blue lightsaber is also returning but this time it's Obi-Wan's version, no doubt in anticipation to the premiere of his upcoming Disney+ series.
Additionally, the following Star Wars Outfits have returned to the Item Shop and are available to purchase:
- Imperial Stormtrooper
- Kylo Ren
- Zorii BlissTM
- FinnTM
- ReyTM
- Sith Trooper
- Boba FettTM
- Fennec ShandTM
- Krrsantan
In addition to cosmetic items, there's also a special Stormtrooper training program to earn Empire accreditation. New Star Wars themed quests are available to complete until May 17. You'll have to do things like "confiscate a 'landspeeder' (a.k.a. a vehicle), confiscate and use 'Jedi contraband' (a.k.a. a lightsaber)." Completing these quests will earn you XP and completing fiv eof them will earn you the Empire Banner.
Epic Games hasn't announced any new cosmetics for this year's Star Wars Day celebration, but it's possible there could be some surprises on the actual day, May 4th.
