Big changes are coming to LEGO Fortnite in the coming days. Epic Games announced that LEGO Fortnite will expand this week with a new social replay game called LEGO Fortnite Brick Life. Additionally, LEGO Fortnite, the original survival crafting game that launched in 2023, will see its name change to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, while LEGO Fortnite becomes the "hub for all LEGO adventures in the Fortnite ecosystem."
So when is this all happening?
LEGO Fortnite Brick Life is scheduled to launch on Thursday, December 12th. The new game mode supports up to 32 players as they live their best lives in the heart of a bustling city in Fortnite.
"Players can explore vibrant areas throughout the city, customize their dream home, take on jobs and interact with friends and other players through text chat," Epic's description reads. "LEGO Fortnite Brick Life is an ever-evolving experience and will receive new content updates over time including new jobs, resources and events."
Looking at the video above, it basically sounds like a LEGO version of The Sims. In addition to just hanging around and socializing, players can take on many different jobs, including Courier, Academy Professor, Security Officer, Scoundrel, Sushi Chef, Bobom Milk Tea Bobarista, and Fortune Teller.
Additionally, there are multiple empty lots throughout the city where you can place a home. Designs range from cozy suburban houses to luxurious penthouses. Once you pick and purchase your home, you are free to customize it, purchasing items from the Furniture Catalogue.
Epic notes that most Decor Bundles and Builds from LEGO Fortnite Odyssey are cross-compatible with LEGO Fortnite Brick Life. However, a small selection of large Builds are not available for use at launch, although they will be supported in the near future.
Communication in LEGO Fortnite Brick Life is done through text chat, and players have the ability to choose who to chat with in the game's settings. They can also interact using any Emotes or Jam Tracks from their locker.
Areas to explore include the Town Square, the Beach, Mourndale Academy, and the Rooftop Club Grand Opening.
As for the name changes, that will happen sooner. On Tuesday, December 10th, the Storm Chasers update will go live in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey. This will introduce a new boss, the Storm King, along with gameplay improvements. The progression system will be overhauled and all-new crafting systems will be introduced.
Although Fortnite is primarily known for its Battle Royale experience, the LEGO game mode has become a legitimate sandbox metaverse. Both LEGO Grou and Epic Games announced in 2022 that they wanted to build an "immersive, creatively inspiring and engaging digital experience for kids of all ages to enjoy together." LEGO Fortnite Brick Life seems to be the next major step in achieving that goal.
