Blizzard announced today that the annual
Overwatch holiday event, Winter Wonderland, will be returning next week on December 12. The event will be available on all platforms (PS4, Xbox One, and PC) and will, of course, bring all sorts of holiday festivities, including brand new seasonal skins and a new mode.
In a developer update, game director Jeff Kaplan confirmed there would be
"a lot of legendary skins," and while he refrained from spoiling all of the surprises, he did confirm that a
"long-awaited Hanzo skin that you've seen before, possibly in one of the game's comics" is coming.
"Two of our favorite junkers" are also getting Legendary skins, he revealed, as are other characters.
The seasonal pass to King's Row and Hanamura are returning for the holidays, and Blizzard has done a seasonal pass on the Black Forest arena map as well. Speaking of the Black Forest Map, Blizzard has moved Mei's Snowball Offensive to it, but you can also play it on Antarctica as well.
Lastly, for this year's Winter Wonderland there will be a new event called Mei's Yeti Hunt.
"It's the idea of what we call a boss fight," Kaplan said. This new event will feature one team consisting of six Mei(s) going up against one single Yeti (Winston). The Yeti will be controlled by a human, not AI, and players will have the opportunity to pick who they prefer to play as when they queue for the mode.
