While
Just Cause 4 was a pretty game (if you tried to avoid looking at its water), there's no denying that it didn't manage to live up to the expectations, delivering a bombastic, but also shallow experience.
With
RAGE 2, the team at Avalanche Studios will have a chance to redeem themselves, hopefully delivering something more unique and less generic that Rico Rodriguez's latest adventures. While
RAGE 2 will give players a chance to explore a huge open world, it won't be as big as
Just Cause 4's.
In a recent interview with Dual Shockers, id Software Studio Director Tim Willits revealed that "
the physical size [or RAGE 2's map] is actually smaller, but it’s denser." The decision to create something smaller was the direct result of both team's desire to "
put something fun and engaging around every corner. We felt that was the way that we wanted to design this game. Denser and more compact."
During your own
RAGE 2 playthrough, you will explore five distinct biomes, each popping with color and its own identity, including swamplands, overground cities, forests, and even some dry deserts.
Given that
RAGE 2 launches on May 14th, we should learn more about the game in the near future.
In the year 2185, humanity’s numbers are dwindling. Ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority seek to rule who remains with an iron fist. You are Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland. Robbed of your home and left for dead, you’ll tear across an unforgiving wasteland battling bloodthirsty gangs to find the tools and tech needed to take the fight to The Authority and crush their oppressive rule once and for all!
RAGE 2 will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 14, 2019.
