Rust may be a veteran in the survival game scene, but it’s far from fading into the past. Facepunch Studios’ long-running multiplayer hit continues to hold a top spot on Steam, rivaling newer survival titles like Enshrouded and Once Human. Now, the game is gearing up for a major new chapter with its latest content drop: the Jungle update. Check out the official teaser trailer featuring some scary looking wildlife, weapons and more down below:

Set to officially launch on Thursday, May 1st, the Jungle update introduces players to a dense, tropical biome teeming with new wildlife and plenty of new ways to die trying. From crocodiles lurking in swamps to elusive panthers and slithering snakes, this new region is both beautiful and brutal.

For those dying for more content about the update, here is a great informational video about the update from SHADOWFRAX on Youtube down below:

The update isn’t limited to just visuals. Expect expanded hunting opportunities, survival challenges, and of course, more PvP encounters as players explore the lush and deadly environment. And if you’re too eager to wait, you can dive into the Jungle early via the Rust Staging Branch on Steam, where the biome is listed under the codename aux03.

Meanwhile, Rust’s Spring update is adding some lighter fare to balance out the danger. The annual Easter egg hunt is back and runs until April 24th. Every 24–38 in-game hours, a hunt kicks off, giving players three minutes to collect as many eggs as possible. The top three egg hunters will earn special reward eggs containing loot ranging from scrap to even powerful weapons like the M249.

Even if you don’t place, don’t worry because collected painted eggs can be upgraded. Ten painted eggs combine into a bronze egg, ten bronze eggs become a silver egg, and so on until you reach gold. Seasonal cosmetics like the Easter Basket, Bunny Onesie, and Bunny Ears will also give you an edge with features like instant egg pickup and the aptly named “Egg Vision.”

They also recently released a video for their new crafting update featuring bees and new things for every farmer and builder in the game, check it out below:

Whether you’re braving the jungle’s wilds or scrambling for loot-filled eggs, Rust’s latest updates are keeping the experience fresh, deadly, and a little festive. Will you be trying to survive on the island?
