Ahead of Battlefield V's beta this week, EA and DICE have released a new trailer for the game. Today's trailer, dubbed "This is Battlefield V," runs us through a general overview of all the various game modes offered in Battlefield V.

It kicks off with details on the game's traditional multiplayer modes, including fan-favorites Conquest and Frontlines. There's also Grand Operations, a new mode inspired by historical battles that span multiple maps and modes. When it's all said and done, Battlefield V will offer eight different multiplayer modes. And that's not including the new Battle Royale mode, officially dubbed "Firestorm."

While EA had previously teased Battlefield V's Battle Royale mode, today's trailer offers us our best look yet at the re-imagined mode which features 16 teams of four "fighting to become the last squad standing on the largest Battlefield map ever." The new mode will essentially be a sandbox filled with destructible buildings, weaponry, and vehicles. While only given a glimpse of the new mode, the trailer features a unique gameplay feature later on that suggests Firestorm will have at least a basic building mechanic in the same vein as Epic Games' Fortnite. Battlefield V will have fortification system which allows you to reshape the battlefield in multiplayer (and presumably in Battle Royale). It's not necessarily as in-depth as Fortnite's building system, but you will be able to do things like dig fox holes, lay down sand bags, build bridges, and reinforce destroyed buildings.

Finally, the trailer briefly touches on the single-player War Stories, an anthology of untold stories told from WWII. Four different War Stories will be available at launch with more coming post-launch as part of Battlefield V's free live service, Tides of War.

Battlefield V launches November 20, 2018. An open beta for the game will begin on September 6 giving us hands-on time with two game modes: Conquest and Grand Operations.
