Call of Duty: Vanguard has officially been confirmed, and it looks like we're headed back to World War II. Activision dropped a teaser trailer today, finally revealing what has been one of the worst kept secrets this year.
Not that a new Call of Duty surprises anyone, but prior to today's announcement, there were only rumors and leaks pointing towards the game's setting and more. A lot of those reports were confirmed by today's teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard.
The nearly two minute teaser takes us on a tour through different war-torn battlefield across Europe. Hidden within these scenes are the faces of different characters, seemingly suggesting that the campaign will follow multiple protagonists. We don't know who these characters are yet, but we won't have to wait too much longer to find out.
Call of Duty: Vanguard's worldwide reveal will take place on August 19 at 10:30am PST/1:30pm EST within the free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision didn't provide much detail, simply stating: "Join the Battle of Verdansk and experience the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard in Warzone."
It's possible that some sort of scripted, in-game event will unfold within Warzone that introduces the WWII setting of the upcoming game. Hopefully, we also get to see some gamepaly footage as well. Previous leaks suggested there will be an open beta for Call of Duty: Vanguard in September, followed by the game's launch, which will likely be in November.
