Game developer Bungie revealed new details about its upcoming
Forsaken expansion for
Destiny 2, which will be the largest expansion since the game’s initial launch in September 2017 during yesterday's live stream.
Forsaken will offer players new abilities to use, a new campaign to play through and new areas to explore alongside reintroducing the core concepts of the first
Destiny.
The DLC’s campaign is being developed by Bungie in collaboration with
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron maker High Moon Studios and the story won't be revealed until E3.
Forsaken will send players to two fresh destinations: new locations in the Reef, and an area called The Dreaming City where you will be able to explore a free-roam area described as a mix between the Vault of Glass and the Leviathan raid. The location is “
built from the ground up to support endgame content,” according to Activision. Much like
The Taken King expansion from
Destiny,
Forsaken will also add in new super moves for Guardians.
Forsaken will cost $39.99 on its own. A bundle of
Forsaken and its Annual Pass will be available for $69.99. Activision will also sell a Digital Deluxe Edition of the expansion for $79.99 that includes
Forsaken itself, the Annual Pass and a set of Awoken-themed in-game items such as Wrath Majestic Legendary Bow Ornament, Dirge Paladin Emblem, Vestian Ghost Shell, and Fireteam Medallions.
Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness. You and Cayde-6 are sent to personally investigate the recent unrest. Upon arrival, you soon discover the most-wanted criminals in the Prison of Elders have organized an escape. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, you’ll pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.
Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion arrives on September 4, 2018 for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
