Last week's
v5.0 content update for
Fortnite introduced the Submachine Gun, while sending the popular Tactical SMG to the vault. While fans were sad to say goodbye to the overpowered weapon, the new Submachine Gun has emerged as a pretty popular weapon as well. However, it looks like Epic isn't quite done tweaking that class of weapons.
Teased via the in-game news feed, a new Compact SMG will be coming to
Fortnite Battle Royale soon. As briefly described, the Compact SMG
"excels at close quarters combat" and will come in both Epic and Legendary rarity. Previously, the Tactical SMG was the only variant that came in Legendary rarity (if you don't include the Mini-Gun). The new Submachine Gun only comes in Uncommon, Common, and Rare, so it's nice to see the SMG class finally get another Legendary variant again. We don't have specific weapon details just yet, but that'll presumably be included in the patch notes when the new weapon arrives. If it's anything like the Tactical SMG, get ready for the close-range meta to change very soon.
In addition to the Compact SMG, it appears that the Slurp Juice item will be getting a slight buff/rework. Over on the
Battle Royale subreddit, user
HalfHealth posted some changes he would like to see made with Slurp Juice, in which the item would emphasize filling your health first before your shield. With the post gaining so much traction, Epic actually responded and confirmed some changes will be coming to Slurp in update 5.10.
According to Epic, following the update,
"Slurp will give 75 points (2hp/s), but prioritize HP first. If HP is full it'll go to Shield." This is quite a change to the Slurp Juice which currently grants one health and one shield per second for 25 seconds, resulting in a total of 25 health and 25 shield gain. The problem right now is that if you have full health or shield, it is wasted.
Fortnite 's v5.0 content update is expected to arrive tomorrow. Check back tomorrow for the full, specific patch notes but in the meantime let us know what you think.
