Sony may not be playing nice with Nintendo and Xbox when it comes to cross-play with Fortnite, but the company is not stupid when it comes to marketing with the biggest game of the year. Looking to capitalize on the battle royale craze, Sony has revealed a Fortnite PlayStation 4 bundle.

You’re probably thinking - but Fortnite Battle Royale is free to download and play, what are they bundling? Well, as we all know, a big part of Fortnite Battle Royale is the cosmetics and the bundle offers those who buy it an exclusive Royale Bomber outfit along with 500 V-Bucks ($5 value) to spend on any in-game cosmetic.

According to the posting, the Fortnite PS4 bundle will be available on July 16. There’s no price at this point, but seeing as how Fortnite Battle Royale is free-to-play it should retail for the same price as a regular PlayStation console with the added cosmetics thrown in as a bonus.

This is apparently what the outfit looks like in-game:

Of course, purchasing this bundle means you’re essentially giving up Fortnite cross-play on any other console (except for PC and mobile). With the game’s arrival on Nintendo Switch this month, it was quickly discovered that Sony was locking its players out from cross-playing with anyone on Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. Not only that, but the company won’t even allow you to access your Epic account on any of those consoles. It’s unclear if Sony intends to change this policy, but it seems unlikely given their BS response to the situation.

That being said, Sony has sold over 70 million PS4 units since its launch so it’s not like there will be any shorts of players or difficulty finding matches. And odds are most of your friends probably have a PS4 to play with anyway. Additionally, buying this bundle also means you can download the PlayStation Plus Celebration pack, which includes the Blue Striker Outfit and Blue Shift Back Bling for free if you're a PS Plus member. It's worth mentioning, however, that as of this post, PlayStation hasn't officially announced this bundle for the U.S. or Europe.
