STAR WARS: SQUADRONS Space Combat Game Launches Today On PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC

Star Wars: Squadrons launches today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Here's a rundown of what the newest Star Wars video game from EA Motive has to offer...

Star Wars: Squadrons is the newest video game from a galaxy far, far away... Published by Electronic Arts and developed by Motive Studios, Star Wars: Squadrons is a space combat game featuring iconic starfighters, characters, planets, and more from the Star Wars saga.

Players assume the role of a pilot for either the Galactic Empire or the New Republic. Played entirely from a first-person perspective, players must manage functions such as weaponry, shielding, and engines while taking on opponents in space combat scenarios. You can unlock new upgrades and cosmetics for your pilots and vehicles as you progress.

Star Wars: Squadrons includes two multiplayer modes, those being "Dogfight," and "Fleet Battles." The former sets two squadrons of five against each other (like a traditional Team Deathmatch mode) while the latter involves destroying your opponents Capital Ships while protecting your own.

Additionally, the game includes a story mode that's set after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi and therefore the Battle of Endor. Said story alternates between two pilots, each hailing from the New Republic and Galactic Empire.

Star Wars: Squadrons was only announced back in June so it would be understandable if you had forgotten but it actually releases today (on October 2nd)! The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Star Wars: Squadrons supports VR on the two former platforms. What's more, the game will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility.

Buckle up, take full control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter, and feel the adrenaline of strategic first-person 5v5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadron. In a fateful campaign set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player story. The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest.

Star Wars: Squadrons launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2nd, 2020.
