Grand Theft Auto 6 is still arriving on November 19, 2026, and the map talk keeps landing in previews to keep fans hyped. Rockstar Games has shown Vice City as the neon core of Leonida, a Florida-shaped island with no panhandle. The numbers people are repeating come from Rockstar head of development Rob Nelson talking to YouTuber TGG, the whole map is about twice the size of GTA 5, playable space about three times Red Dead Redemption 2, Vice City itself about twice that of Los Santos, and Vice City plus its built-up surroundings about 11 times the developed sprawl outside Los Santos. That is a preview quote chain, not a scale printed on the box.
So far the newest preview adds how that space is supposed to work once the opening missions unlock free roam. No traditional hard gates across the island. Five counties. About 10 cities and towns. Multiple extra islands and a lot of water, with diving kit for wrecks and caches. Mount Kalaga sits in the north as the high point. Official trailers and site refresh footage have already named or shown Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Fan maps fill the rest. Treat those as fan maps.
Density over empty miles
Previews say Rockstar is chasing interiors as hard as acreage. Hundreds of enterable buildings. Helipad towers you climb by stairs or elevator with no load. The pause map is a satellite-style 3D view. Zoom out and you get highways. Zoom in and alleys, businesses, and gang spots appear. Heist prep is the example they keep using: entrances, exits, even loot value on the map. Unvisited ground stays under fog of war until you drive it.
Getting around with stolen cars isn't the only way to do it. Buses, trains, taxis, a RydeMe ride-share, and the Metromover. You can skip the ride or sit in it, talk to NPCs, and leave the radio on. Jason and Lucia do not buy a stack of safehouses. Garages are for sale. Their actual home moves with the story while they stay on the run.
The wanted layer sits on the same map. Crime scenes pick up temporary heat. Cops hold a perimeter. Those spots render red, with a lighter ring for the wider alert. At a six-star wanted level the heat is described as map-wide.
Rockstar’s own site and cover-art package already gave a sunset pass over docks, helicopters, a ferris wheel, and street clutter. Neighborhood names that keep showing up in official or widely matched footage include Ocean Beach / Vice Beach, downtown towers, the port, the airport, Little Cuba, Stockyard’s mural blocks, Tequesta’s money streets. Mapping projects have matched buildings to real Miami landmarks.
