The road to Gotham Knights has not been without some bumps, but we're now just a few months away from the highly anticipated open-world, action RPG. But after numerous setbacks and console cancellations, Warner Bros. Games has once again announced a new release date. Don't worry -- it's not getting delayed. Rather, Gotham Knights will now be with us earlier!

Announced at Gamescom today, Gotham Knights will now release on October 21, 2022, four days ahead of the previously announced launch date. It will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC after WB Games cancelled the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

The updated release date was announced alongside the reveal of a new trailer that showcases the many villains you'll have to save Gotham City from without the help of Batman. While we already knew the Batman Family would have to deal with the likes of Mr. Freeze, the Penguin, and the Court of Owls, today's trailer reveals a couple of new villains in both Clayface and Harley Quinn. The trailer is filled with andrenaline-inducing action as Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin work together to protect Gotham from its criminals.

There’s a storm coming and Renee Montoya knows she can’t trust the GCPD to fight it. She must ally herself with our Knights before it’s too late. Will they stand a chance against the wrath of Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Clayface, and the Court of Owls as they each try to take over Gotham City? Or will the villains reign over Gotham?

Gotham Knights is not at all connected to the Arkham series of games; however, it does feature quite a few similarities to those critiically acclaimed games. Namely, you'll be patrolling Gotham's five boroughs in an open-world setting. While the game can be played solo, it seems the best experience will be with others.

Gotham Knights can be pre-ordered right now. Doing so will unlock the exclusive 233 Kustom Batcycle Skin. In addition to the Standard Edition of the game there's both the Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition. The Deluxe Edition comes with the Visionary Pack which includes an exclusive "Knightwatch by Jim Lee" Transmog, a Beyond Suitstyle inspired by Batman Beyond, salvage to build new gear boosted gear, an exclusive emote and 3 exclusive suit colorways. The Collector's Edition offers all that plus a New Guard Statue inspired by Jim Lee, a Jim Lee Certificate of Authenticity, Promethium New Guard Transmogs, Augmented Reality Talon Key, a collectible map. Gotham Knights launches October 21, 2022.
