Microsoft and Nintendo have officially released the update that brings the Bedrock Edition to the Nintendo Switch, allowing cross-platform capabilities with almost all the other major platforms:  PCs, Xbox, and smartphones.  The one missing platform of course being the Playstation 4.

In honor of the update, Nintendo of America released this tweet hinting at their excitement for cross-platform play:

Xbox also replied:

Needless to say, this is only another straw in the tug-of-war between Nintendo and Sony, as this comes on the heels of Fortnite's announcement at E3 on the release for the Nintendo Switch, which will also allow for similar cross-platform solutions, barring of course with Sony's Playstation 4.

Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch retails digitally or in-stores for $29.99.
