Old School RuneScape players are about to make some demonic deals. Jagex has officially confirmed that Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts begins on April 15, 2026, and will run for eight weeks until the game update on June 10. The new league introduces a fresh twist on the temporary game mode formula, centering around the demon Yama and his pacts for power. This time, players start in a completely new location with restricted access that gradually opens up, promising a different progression path from previous leagues.
Leagues have become one of OSRS’s most popular seasonal events, offering massively boosted experience rates, powerful relics, unique restrictions, and exclusive rewards that carry over to the main game. Demonic Pacts builds on that foundation while shaking things up with a thematic focus on demonic contracts, new starting conditions, and creative mechanical changes. Here is a complete breakdown of what to expect when the league goes live. Here is a video from the devs talking about the league:
Unlike traditional leagues that begin in Lumbridge or Misthalin, Demonic Pacts drops players directly into Yama’s Lair which is a custom, demonic-themed version of the demon’s domain. This new hub serves as the tutorial area and features demons patrolling to keep everything in check. From there, players exit straight into Civitas illa Fortis in the Varlamore region, which is fully unlocked from the start.
Varlamore serves as the mandatory opening area, offering a mix of nostalgia, exploration, and fresh content for many players. Misthalin is completely inaccessible for the entire league, a deliberate choice by Yama that adds mystery to the narrative. Karamja starts locked but unlocks automatically once you earn your first area unlock.
After that, players can unlock three additional regions of their choice by completing tasks. Full details on each area appear in the Area Selection menu, accessible via the Leagues tab in the Journal panel. Teleports and transportation methods to locked regions remain restricted, forcing smart planning around your unlocked map.
Every league character operates as an Ironman, meaning no trading with other players and no access to the Grand Exchange. This keeps the self-sufficient spirit of leagues intact.
Jagex has auto-completed a solid list of early and mid-tier quests to help players hit the ground running:
- Dragon Slayer I
- Learning the Ropes
- The Restless Ghost
- Rune Mysteries
- Children of the Sun
- Desert Treasure II – The Fallen Empire
- Druidic Ritual
- Eagles’ Peak
- Elemental Workshop I
- Fairytale I – Growing Pains
- Fairytale II – Cure a Queen
- Lost City
- Nature Spirit
- Perilous Moons
- Priest in Peril
- Twilight’s Promise
Two combat achievements are also auto-completed: Back to Our Roots and Demonic Rebound.
New characters receive immediate stat boosts of +3 Herblore and +5 Runecraft. A Dramen staff is added to your inventory (reclaimable from the Leagues Tutor if lost) to enable Fairy ring access right away. You can also claim a free spade, Impling jar, and two Strange devices from the tutor in Yama’s Lair.
Experience rates receive a heavy multiplier from the start, increasing further as you unlock more powerful relics. Exact multipliers appear in the Relics menu. Tier 1 relics already include strong passives such as:
- All experience multiplied by 5x
- Items from eligible sources drop twice as often
- Farming ticks occur every minute instead of every five
- Minigame points boosted by 4x
- Run energy never drains while running
- All clue scrolls drop as stackable scroll boxes, with progress saved between clues
Higher relic tiers unlock even more reality-warping effects, encouraging players to prioritize task completion for faster power spikes.
Several bosses and monsters receive league-specific adjustments to keep things exciting:
- Echo Boss rewards become guaranteed above certain thresholds
- Chambers of Xeric Challenge Mode, Theatre of Blood Hard Mode, and Tombs of Amascut (500+ invocation) feature significantly buffed drop rates alongside increased difficulty
- In ToA and ToB, any unique obtained goes to all raid participants
- Wilderness bosses can be fought without completing the Wilderness Medium Diary
- Zulrah loses its damage cap and melee damage immunity
- Impling spawn rates increase, with higher chances for rare implings; Dragon implings drop fewer Dragon bones
- Nihil shards drop in greater quantities from Nex
To support the accelerated pace, many quality-of-life changes apply:
- Most shop stock does not deplete
- All Soulreaper axe pieces drop from every Desert Treasure II boss
- Multi-region component items drop as the completed version
- The Twisted bow, Scythe of Vitur, and Tumeken’s shadow become available from all three raids
- Scythe of Vitur can be charged with only Blood runes
- The Leagues Tutor sells Max capes once you qualify
Access and Miscellaneous Changes
- The Abyss and Zanaris count as general regions, accessible via Fairy ring from anywhere (including the cosmic altar)
- Slayer masters assign tasks based on your currently unlocked areas
- You cannot enter the Ancient Guthixian Temple from the Chasm of Tears
- Your Player Owned House starts in Aldarin and can only be moved to unlocked areas
- Unlocking new areas auto-completes various quests and Achievement Diary tasks (without XP rewards), though you can complete some quests manually beforehand for the experience
- Rocks, trees, respawnable items, and main-world NPCs respawn much faster — often 3x or more
- Forestry events spawn three times as often
Pets and pet transmogs that carry over between leagues do not count toward collection log tasks, but transmogs themselves now roll over reliably.
The league leans heavily into its demonic theme. Yama’s Lair includes a special agility course on stepping stones in a lava pool, allowing Agility training from level 1 (with a risk of burns if you fail). You can return to the lair anytime using the home teleport spell.
Sailing remains disabled for this league, and any content released during the event will be evaluated for inclusion on a case-by-case basis.
The decision to lock Misthalin and start in Varlamore gives everyone a truly fresh beginning. Varlamore offers plenty of training methods, quests, and exploration, but its limitations encourage creative problem-solving one of the core appeals of every league.
As with previous leagues, players earn exclusive rewards based on total points and milestones. These typically include unique cosmetics, transmogs, and titles that persist in the main game. Full reward details will emerge closer to launch and throughout the event.
Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts looks set to deliver one of the most distinct seasonal experiences yet. Starting in Yama’s domain, unlocking regions strategically, and wielding overpowered relics while making pacts with demons creates a compelling loop for both veterans and returning players.
Mark your calendars for April 15, 2026. Whether you plan to grind tasks aggressively for early area unlocks or take a more relaxed approach exploring Varlamore, the league promises fast progression, creative builds, and plenty of demonic fun.
Get your accounts ready, dust off those old league tactics, and prepare to sell your soul for power or at least for some seriously boosted XP.
