Garena has announced Palworld Online, a new multiplayer survival adventure for iOS and Android scheduled for release in 2026. The game is being developed and published by Garena under an official license from Pocketpair, the studio behind the original Palworld.

Unlike a straightforward port, Palworld Online is positioned as a large-scale multiplayer experience built specifically for mobile. It expands the creature-collecting survival formula into a massively multiplayer online structure with a seamless open world, shared progression, and systems designed for group play.

Garena president Terry Zhao described the project as an effort to bring the core appeal of the PC game to mobile while emphasizing connection between players. "Palworld is a widely recognized intellectual property, and we see an opportunity to bring the essence of the PC title to mobile in a way that encourages players to connect and venture together," Zhao said. "Working closely with Pocketpair, we are focused on preserving the depth, immersion, and freedom that define Palworld, while thoughtfully optimising the experience for mobile play."

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe welcomed the partnership, pointing to Garena’s background in global mobile publishing and live operations. "Garena has extensive experience in global publishing, localization, and live operations for mobile games. We are pleased to work with Garena on the licensed development of Palworld Online and look forward to seeing a new Palworld experience brought to players worldwide."

The game introduces a new narrative setting that includes original story elements alongside exclusive side stories created for this version. Players will explore a vast interconnected world with their Pals, capturing and raising creatures, uncovering lore, and unlocking new regions. The focus remains on the bond between players and their Pals, with each encounter intended to feel meaningful.

Multiplayer sits at the center of the design. Players can meet others in the world, form groups, and build shared settlements that function as collaborative hubs for crafting, defense, and daily activities. Pals can be assigned to automate production and help protect the base, freeing players to focus on exploration or social interaction. Cooperative options include tackling challenging PvE content with friends, fighting rampaging open-world bosses, and hunting rare Pals together. Competitive PvP modes are also planned. Those who prefer a lower-pressure experience can visit other players’ bases and participate at their own pace.

The mobile-first approach includes a streamlined touch-friendly interface and optional one-tap controls. Base planning, construction, relocation, and Pal management have been adjusted for handheld play. Garena states the game is being built to run across a wide range of phone specifications without removing the depth associated with the original title.

Palworld launched in early access on PC in January 2024 and quickly became one of the most successful new survival games in recent years, driven by its mix of creature collection, base building, automation, and open-world exploration. The mobile version represents the first major licensed spin-off that reworks the concept for a different platform and a more heavily multiplayer structure. By shifting toward shared worlds and persistent group settlements, Palworld Online moves away from the primarily session-based or small-group multiplayer of the original and closer to a live-service MMO model.

The involvement of Garena is interesting. The company has extensive experience operating large-scale mobile titles across multiple regions and handling localization and ongoing live support. That background aligns with the stated goal of delivering a version of Palworld that can sustain a long-term player base on smartphones.

No exact release date within 2026 has been given, and details on monetization, specific platforms beyond iOS and Android, or cross-progression with the PC version remain unconfirmed. The announcement focuses instead on the core pillars: a seamless open world, cooperative and competitive multiplayer, shared base building, and mobile-friendly controls that still aim to preserve the freedom of the original game.

For existing Palworld players, the mobile title offers a different way to engage with the universe rather than a direct continuation of their PC saves. For new players, it provides an entry point that emphasizes playing with others from the start. The combination of Pocketpair’s creative property and Garena’s mobile operational expertise positions Palworld Online as one of the more significant attempts to translate a breakout PC survival hit into a large-scale mobile multiplayer experience.

The game is scheduled to arrive on iOS and Android sometime in 2026. Further details on features, systems, and the precise launch window are expected as development continues.
