While the development team at ZeniMax Online Studios is still working on their first major video game,
The Elder Scrolls Online, the studio is seemingly getting ready for the next generation of consoles.
In a recent interview with the Official Xbox Magazine (Issue 177), Matt Firor, Game Director at ZeniMax Online Studios, revealed some pretty interesting details on the developer's possible future projects.
“
Not a lot of people have picked up on this, but if you look on our job site you’ll see that we are accepting applications for people to work on a new engine for a new triple-A game,” Firor explained. “
So yes, we have ideas, but we’re committed to [The Elder Scrolls Online] for as long as it takes.”
Those job listings mentioned by Firor were discovered for the first time last October, revealing that ZeniMax was working on an all-new IP for PC and consoles. The "
new IP" bit clearly suggests that the developer will abandon the
Elder Scrolls universe and create something fresh, at least theoretically.
The Elder Scrolls Online's latest expansion,
Elsweyr, will introduce players to a redesigned region of the continent of Tamriel featured heavily in the acclaimed series. Take a closer look at the DLC below:
Dragons return to Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr, part of the Season of the Dragon year-long adventure! The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 4, 2019, with PC/Mac early access starting May 20th.
