New STAR WARS Game, Possibly JEDI 3 Or KOTOR Remake, May Get Announced This Month

Industry insider Kurakasis claims a new Star Wars game will be revealed “very soon.” While no announcement date was given, the next major gaming event is The Game Awards, happening later this month.

In addition to celebrating the year’s biggest releases, The Game Awards is also a prime stage for publishers to unveil new projects or debut trailers. Kurakasis didn't include any details, such as the title, developer, or publisher, but did state that the game announcement has nothing to do with Star Wars: Zero Company, the real-time strategy game from Bit Reactor, or Star Wars Eclipse, the cinematic action-adventure from Quantic Dream.

Ruling out these two titles leaves the possibility of two already confirmed projects that have yet to be officially announced: the third installment in EA's Star Wars Jedi series or the long-awaited remake of BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic. Of course, there's also the possibility it's something new entirely.

EA has not officially revealed Star Wars Jedi 3, but has confirmed that it's in active development and is a high-priority project. The third game in the blockbuster series is expected to be the final chapter of Cal Kestis's story.

Typically, Star Wars Jedi games are first revealed at Star Wars Celebration. However, the first major gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the second game in the series, was shown at The Game Awards 2022, so there is a precedent for the franchise at the award show. With Star Wars Jedi 3 already in active development and the next confirmed Star Wars Celebration event not until 2027, EA may not want to wait that long to formally introduce the new game.

Meanwhile, many fans are also hoping the announcement could be the long-awaited remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The remake was originally announced in 2021 as being developed by Aspyr Media, but it was indefinitely delayed in 2022, with development shifting to Saber Interactive. We haven't heard much about the game since, but Saber Interactive's CCO and CEO have both repeatedly affirmed that the KOTOR remake is still in development and a priority.

The remaining two confirmed Star Wars games, which Kurakasis has already ruled out, are Star Wars: Zero Company and Star Wars EclipseStar Wars: Zero Company is a turn-based tactics strategy game, similar to the XCOM series, currently in development by Bit Reactor. The game is set in the twilight of the Clone Wars and is said to embrace a boots-on-the-ground, gritty tone similar to Rogue One. It's scheduled to release in 2026.

Star Wars Eclipse is a bit more mysterious. We know it's a narrative-driven action-adventure set in the High Republic Era. It was first revealed with a cinematic trailer at The Game Awards back in 2021, but it's reportedly still in early stages of development. It's not expected to be released until 2027, or potentially even later.

The Game Awards is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will be held at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, while fans can also tune in to the online livestream at home.
