Take-Two Interactive and its publishing label 2K have officially announced that Sledgehammer Games' founder Michael Condrey has joined the company to establish a brand new game development studio based in Silicon Valley. This newly formed team will be working on yet unannounced project.
"Great games come from the passion of a team driven by the pursuit of quality and the empowerment of an independent studio model," said Condrey. "2K’s studios have creative and technical autonomy, backed by a world-class infrastructure of support, and that offers the perfect recipe to build a new studio and craft experiences that will lead the next generation of gaming for fans everywhere." At the time of writing, 2K had not revealed the new studio's official name.
As studio head of Sledgehammer, Condrey directed three Call of Duty games (Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare and, most recently, WWII), while at Visceral he led development on Dead Space.
Rumor has it that Hangar 13 and 2K Marin are working on the next entry in the BioShock series, so there's a small chance that this "inexperienced" team will co-develop the long-rumored BioShock 4.
