Dead Space is a survival horror game developed by EA Redwood Shores that originally released back in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Two console generations later, EA Motive is putting out a remake!
The player assumes the role of an engineer named Isaac Clarke and must venture through a mining ship that's infested with horrifying monsters known as Necromorphs whilst also struggling with his own inner demons. Dead Space is a third-person shooter horror game in which the player must scavenge for supplies such as ammunition but also largely features environmental puzzles.
The remake is set to launch on January 27th for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It's the first instalment in the survival horror series since the release of Dead Space 3 back in 2013, almost ten years ago.
EA Motive has released a gameplay trailer which shows off just how faithful to the original game their upcoming remake seems to be. The trailer features some recogniseable locations from the original game as well as some use of the the iconic Plasma Cutter and Stasis ability.
Additionally, while Isaac Clarke was a mute protagonist for the first Dead Space game, he wasn't in later instalments. It seems that EA Motive are rewriting history and giving the character vocal chords this time around.
