Desert Child is a hoverbike racing game with role-playing elements by independent developer Oscar Brittain and published by Akupara Games coming for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam.
The game sets players in a world that is becoming inhabitable, where most people have decided to move to Mars for a better quality of life. The government is the one in charge to relocating citizens by making the passages affordable but they can no longer keep doing it, thus increasing the tickets' prices. Because of this, players will need to do anything they can to get money to survive.
Desert Child features a pixel-art style that is mostly based on popular anime like Akira, Cowboy Bebop, and Redline. In the game, players will hunt for bounties, throw races, deliver pizzas and anything they can think of to make money.
Desert Child also lets players customise their hoverbikes with guns, amplifiers and "tasteless" bumper stickers—allowing them to master the game's combat, racing mechanics and doing so in style.
The soundtrack in
Desert Child will make it feel more like a throwback as it's inspired by 90s music, making the races even more memorable. Players can even choose to challenge their friends via local multiplayer, or get a helping hand from them in co-op mode.
