A Ruthless Leader Rises As His Nation Crumbles In TOTAL WAR: THREE KINGDOMS Launch Trailer

Sega has released the first launch trailer for Creative Assembly's critically acclaimed Total War: Three Kingdoms, putting the spotlight on Liu Bei and his ambitious quest to conquer the Middle Kingdom...

The next step in Total War's evolution is almost here – as Creative Assembly's Total War: Three Kingdoms launches on May 23rd, introducing players to a new theater of war – the Middle Kingdom.

In Three Kingdoms, you will have a chance to witness the rise and fall of three Chinese warlords from their personal perspectives. Liu Bei will be one of those leaders believing that they are the ones destined to rule ancient China with an iron first – so it comes as no surprise that he's the main start of the first launch trailer for Total War: Three Kingdoms. As a reminder, the titular conflict was the real-world tripartite division and battle for supremacy in China between the states of Wei, Shu, and Wu.

While the latest Total War entry in an indirect adaptation of Luo Guanzhong’s 14th century epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the real-time strategy game will also feature a special Romance Mode that takes an embellishment from said novel and applies it to the game's generals and narrative, giving the most prominent characters some truly supernatural abilities and other pretty otherworldly skills.

Without further ado, be sure to learn more about the motivations of Liu Bei in the trailer down below:

The year is 190CE. China is in turmoil. The Han Dynasty crumbles before the child-emperor. He is but a figurehead, a mere puppet for the tyrant warlord Dong Zhuo. It is a brutal and oppressive regime, and as Dong Zhuo’s power grows, the empire slips further into the cauldron of anarchy.

Total War: Three Kingdoms is coming to PC on May 23rd, 2019.
