Fans of the Role-playing video game genre were pleasantly pleased to find out that Sabotage Studio — the same developer that brought us The Messenger — was working on a new game that seeks to capture the essence of classic RPG titles of yesteryear: Sea of Stars.
Not much was actually revealed about Sea of Stars, but Sabotage Studio did share a gameplay trailer that gave us an idea of what the game would look like, and what it will actualyl play like; drawing inspiration from classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger and the Final Fantasy series, but also adding something new to spice things up.
Since Sea of Stars is expected to launch for home consoles and PC in 2022, the developer still has quite some time to keep revealing new, and exciting news about the project, and today they have revealed something that will make fans of the genre even more excited for the upcoming title.
As revealed today by Sabotage Studio, Yasunori Mitsuda — a composer that has worked on classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears — has joined the project and will be producing the music for Sea of Stars.
"Without knowing exactly why, 'I want to write music for this game' was the feeling I had while seeing it convey the nostalgic golden age of the 90s," Matsuda revealed in regards to composing the game's soundtrack.
With Yasunori Mitsuda on board, and seeing the amazing job that the developers have Sabotage Studio have done with their upcoming RPG, there is no doubt that Sea of Stars will become a timeless classic like the games its drawing inspiration from. We can't wait to know more about this very promising project.
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. A prequel story set in The Messenger’s universe, it tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.
Sea of Stars is expected to release for home consoles and PC in 2022.
