Players got to have their first taste at what
Anthem has to offer after playing the exclusive VIP demo this last weekend.
BioWare had an eventful weekend as well, with a rocky start due to server issues and infinite loading screens. The reception for the demo was a volatile mix between between incredible frustration with the demo’s major bugs and errors to excitement and wonder, as players were able to finally take flight across
Anthem‘s untamed world for the very first time!
BioWare is aware of the work that needs to be done before the game's full release and has given players and fans peace of mind by issuing out a community letter summarizing the events of the weekend, as well as going over its plans between now and Anthem‘s mid-February launch. The letter was written up by Anthem‘s head of live service Chad Roberson, and focuses on efforts to fix the VIP demo‘s various issues. Part of the list also includes issues from the demo that have already been fixed for official launch version of the game. Checkout a few of the changes that will happen before the next open demo down below:
-Entitlement bugs
-Server performance updates to address much of the rubber-banding
-Fixes for infinite loads and more being investigated
-Platform bugs to validate Javelin unlocks
-Client and platform login bugs
The letter also states the following:
We’re doing more scale testing this week, particularly to be ready for the opening rush of players on Friday, and to verify we’ve got “infinite load” problems improved, the latter of which was a primary frustration for many players.
They have also said that they have been preparing for many weeks before the full launch of the game. That version of the game already has a long list of things that are already fixed and won’t make the public demo next weekend. That list includes the following:
-Weapons with 0% infusions
-Weapons with bonus that applies to different Javelins
-Plot integrity / party gather issues
-Changes to Javelin unlock behavior
-Fixes for losing XP at end of some expeditions
-Performance Improvements
-Additional stability fixes
-A Social Hub: The Launch Bay
-And a few thousand more (literally)
What are your thoughts on the letter? Did you get a chance to play the VIP demo or will you be playing the open demo this weekend? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned for more
