Bandai Namco's highly anticipated Dark Souls-like game, Code Vein, has been unfortunately delayed. The vampire slasher was originally slated for release on September 28, but the company has revealed that the launch will now be in 2019. During Code Vein's marketing campaign, the game has received positive reactions from both media and consumers alike and the Bandai wants to use that momentum to ensure the final product delivers on the high expectations set amongst the media and fans.
“Code Vein has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months,” said Vice President of Marketing for Bandai Namco Entertainment America Eric Hartness in a press release. “Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of Code Vein to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it's the correct one.” The old release date was revealed last month and we don’t yet have a new release target.
Shift, the studio that's currently working on Code Vein, also delivered God Eater: Resurrection back in 2015. The game is being directed by Hiroshi Yoshimura, the artist who helmed the original God Eater, so it shouldn't be surprising that the game's vampire universe looks wonderfully bizarre, colorful, but also pretty gritty and unsettling. Code Vein will even feature an AI partner to help you, but you can also "hire" a real person to help you against the difficult opponents and monsters you may encounter.
In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood.
Code Vein will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019.
