Code Vein is the next Dark Souls-inspired RPG title from publisher and developer Bandai Namco. While they still haven't told us exactly what the game is actually about, we have been able to gather some information and that is that it's pretty much inspired by Bloodborne, God Eater and Dark Souls. You start with a blank slate character, and are left alone for you to explore and unveil the story.
Bandai Namco has released a new set of Code Vein screenshots showcasing the “City of Falling Flames,” “Ridge of Frozen Souls,” partner character Yakumo, and more. it's worth noticing that Code is directed by Hiroshi Yoshimura, the artist who also helmed God Eater, so it's shouldn't be surpassing that enemies in Code Vein look wonderfully bizarre, and the steampunk cat surely make an impression.
Some players got a chance to play Code Vein at the PAX East event last month and they were mostly praising the game for its graphics and anime-inspired visuals, fast-paced combat, the game's level of challenge, and especially the new gameplay mechanics like the AI partner, but you can also "hire" a real person as the other character will be helping you against the difficult opponents you may encounter.
In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood.
Code Vein still hasn't been given an official release date but is expected to come out in 2018.
