THQ Nordic CEO Addresses DARKSIDERS III Mixed Critical Reception And Teases The Series Future

Darksiders III launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC yesterday to rather favorable reviews. The slasher reviewed best on PC with a Metacritic score of 72, with Xbox One just behind at 71. The PlayStation 4 version seems to have divided critics the most, attaining an average score of 66, as both console versions feature some major technical hiccups and many infuriating performance issues.

Thankfully, Gunfire Games has also released a day-one patch that is seemingly fixing the most noticeable problems. THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors has decided to address the current state of Darksiders III and explained that Gunfire delivered "a game to the fans of the franchise, and I'm really proud of it," the CEO said. "I'm really proud of what we've been able to show you, I think [developer] Gunfire has made an excellent game, and even my publishing team in Vienna has been working really hard to execute on this -- all the marketing, all the behind-the-scenes things."

When it comes to the reviews, “there are always a few people not enjoying this kind of product, but there are also people really enjoying it. If we stick to our promise and deliver a product that the fans really enjoy, I think we'll be [fine]." The last bit may seem like a small tease of the Darksiders bright future, as there's only one Horseman we haven't played as yet - the gunslinger Strife.

Considering that Vigil, the series original creator, went bankrupt with the "old" THQ, it's nothing short of a miracle that the series lives on and we may even get that co-op Darksiders experience that was teased at the end of the first Darksiders game in 2009. Let's hope Gunfire will manage to ultimately fix Darksiders III that only has to sell 100, 000 copies in its launch period to please the publisher.

Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.

Darksiders III is available on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One NOW!
