Dead Island 2 was supposed to be out on February 3 but was postponed to April 28. The game will now be available to players a little sooner than anticipated.

Additionally, it was recently revealed that the release date of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would be postponed from March 17 to April 28. The two games will no longer be released on the same day because Dead Island 2 has been moved up a week.

The development process for Dead Island 2 has been difficult. Earlier developer Yager was in charge when the game was first unveiled back at E3 in 2014. Later, development of the game was transferred to Sumo Digital, then in 2019, it was transferred once more to Dambuster. After years of anticipation, it was ultimately shown in its current form at Gamescom 2022, when its original February 2023 release date was also re-announced.

With that being said, here's a refresher for where we left off in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide.

Playing the first-person open-world survival horror video game series developed by Techland. The game follows the story of a group of survivors who find themselves stranded on a tropical island after a zombie outbreak. The series will consists of four games, including the original Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide, and a spin-off game, Escape Dead Island and the upcoming sequel.

The original Dead Island game was released in 2011, and it follows the story of four playable characters who must fight their way through the zombie-infested island to find a way off. Along the way, they uncover a sinister conspiracy behind the outbreak. The game ends with the survivors escaping the island, but the fate of the other survivors they left behind is left open.

Dead Island: Riptide, released in 2013, picks up right where the first game left off. The survivors are rescued by a military ship, but it turns out to be a trap, and they find themselves stranded on another island infested with zombies. The game follows the survivors as they try to find a way off the island and uncover the truth behind the outbreak. The game ends with the main character and a few survivors escaping the island and setting sail, but the future of the other survivors is left uncertain.
