Dead Island 2 has been in development for a hell of a long time — and seemingly been in development hell for a very long time. Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz recently participated in an interview with
GamesIndustry.biz in which the long-awaited zombie video game was discussed.
According to Kundratitz, despite that we haven't seen anything official to do with
Dead Island 2 in over a decade, the sequel is still very much in development. The CEO also insisted that the brand is very important to Koch Media and that they're simply focused on making it as good as it can be.
"Look, Dead Island is a very important brand for us and we've got to get it right. It's just a testimony of our dedication to get it right. It's a great story to tell everyone that it's on its third studio, but we like to be judged on the end result and we're really confident that when it comes out it's going to be a kick-ass zombie game," Kundratitz explained.
The CEO also stated that
Dead Island 2 won't be releasing anywhere near
Dying Light 2. This means that we won't be seeing Dead Island 2 hit shelves for a very long time (what else is new?) as Techland's sequel will be releasing in early 2020. Speculation has therefore arisen that
Dead Island 2 will most likely be a next-generation release.
Dead Island is heading to California for a Summer that never dies! Grab your friends and become the zombie's apocalypse in the co-op vacation of a lifetime.
Dead Island 2 was originally supposed to launch back in 2015.
