DRAGON AGE 4 Is Reportedly "At Least" Three Years Away, But Will Be Revealed At The Game Awards
Our first look at the next installment in the beloved Dragon Age franchise will reportedly come at The Game Awards, but it sounds like we shouldn't expect much as it's still very far away from release.
Anticipation is building towards The Game Awards 2018 this week where more than 10 new games will be announced. We don't exactly know what those games will be, but there's strong evidence pointing towards a new Dragon Age being one of them.
Though its reveal was never quite confirmed, BioWare studio boss Casey Hudson strongly hinted at it in a recent blog post. Now, a new report from VentureBeat claims Dragon Age 4 (or whatever it'll be called) will indeed be revealed. But don't get your hopes up for a new installment any time soon.
The same report, citing "sources familiar with the studio, says that the new Dragon Age is still at least three years ago. The site acknowledges that the timeline could still change, but that BioWare and EA "have not even settled on a name for the new Dragon Age," which should give you a good sense at how far along they are with the game.
Assuming the report is accurate and the new Dragon Age is still at least three years away, we're looking at a launch on the next generation of consoles. That begs the question exactly how much of this new game will be shown during The Game Awards on Thursday, or if it'll only be an announcement.
If it's the latter then we can probably expect a reveal similar to what Bethesda did with Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield. Both of those games aren't expected to release for quite a few more years, likely on next-gen systems, but Bethesda announced them each with a simple teaser trailer that revealed little more than a logo.
You can tune in to The Game Awards on Thursday, December 6 at 5:30 pm PT/8:30 pm ET to see what EA and BioWare have in store for Dragon Age. It'll be streamed on most major services, including YouTube, Facebook, Mixer, Steam TV, PSN, and Xbox LIVE.
