Aaryn Flynn is leaving BioWare after 17 years with the video game company. His departure comes after lukewarm reception for Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Hudson is returning to head up BioWare's Edmonton studio, which is currently hard at work on Anthem. However, some are speculating that Hudson's return is a sign that the developer isn't throwing in the towel on its Mass Effect franchise. BioWare saw great succes with ME under Hudson's guidance.
On
the BioWare blog, Flynn writes, "
I have been contemplating changes in my own life for some time, but when I heard that Casey had confirmed he was up for the task, I realized the opportunities before us. I will be working with him over the next couple of weeks to catch him up and do my part to set him up for success to be the best GM he can be."
Given that BioWare is probably neck-deep in the trenches with Anthem, there likely isn't room for someone to jump in cold, off the street. That leads credence to fan speculaton that Hudson is returning to right the ship on Mass Effect.
