Last month, Sabotage Studio announced that they were working on Sea of Stars — which is a role-playing game inspired by timeless classics like Chrono Trigger and the Final Fantasy series — and that they had just starter a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project.
For those who may not be familiar with Sabotage Studio, it is the same developer that gave us the phenomenal retro-looking title The Messenger, and it even managed to win Best Debut Indie Game at the 2018 The Game Awards event; very well-deserved, too.
Today, exactly thirty days after the Kickstarter campaign began — and as it finally comes to a successful end — Sabotage Studio has thanked backers for their support; promising that they will do their best to deliver the best product possible.
Sea of Stars was actually successfully funded within hours after the Kickstarter campaign was announced, and over the past 29 days the developer has revealed that a bunch of stretch goals have also been reached — so there is plenty of content for players to look forward to.
Sabotage Studio has also introduced us to Garl, who is a new playable character that will be joining the party in Sea of Stars, and will do anything to protect the Solstice Warriors Valere and Zale; with three more characters still left to be revealed.
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. A prequel story set in The Messenger’s universe, it tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.
Sea of Stars is expected to release for home consoles and PC in 2022.
