In March of this year, independent developer Sabotage Studio announced Sea of Stars, which is an upcoming role-playing game that is inspired by iconic role-playing video games like Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, that will release for home consoles and PC.
This project actually started as a Kickstarter campaign and it was fully funded within the same day it was announced. The reason? Sea of Stars is aiming to bring back the classic look and feel of the aforementioned role-playing titles of yesteryear.
In fact, the people over at Sabotage Studio even managed to get renowned composer Yasunori Mitsuda — the same composer who produced the timeless soundtrack of Chrono Trigger —to produce the music in Sea of Stars.
Perhaps the only disappointing aspect of Sea of Stars — that has absolutely nothing to do with the develoeprs or the game itself — is the fact that it will be launching in 2022, and players will have to patiently wait for the developers to share more information about the project.
The good news is that today Sabotage Studios released a brand-new trailer for Sea of Stars, that gives shows off even more gameplay footagefrom the upcoming role-playing title, and it looks like the game will give players a pretty epic adventure.
Take a look:
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. A prequel story set in The Messenger’s universe, it tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.
Sea of Stars is expected to release for home consoles and PC in 2022.
