Valkyria Chronicles was without a doubt one of the most memorable games on the Playstation 3 back in 2008. The watercolor aesthetic and unique top-down and third-person tactical gameplay made it such a unique experience. Well, The WWII inspired game is getting its sequel in 2018 and its looking to refine everything already great about the game.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 introduces a story set in the same timeframe as the original game, but now revolves around a brand new set of characters. The game will take players to different continents, experience different sides of the Europan conflict and go beyond the Gallian front. In addition, the new hardware let developers create a more vibrant world with richer colors and visuals, dynamic environements and new effects.
Here's what producer
Kei Mikami has to say about the inspiration of the game (via
Playstation.blog):
"The aim of this Valkyria Project is to expand the series on a global scale. We haven’t released a mainline title since Valkyria Chronicles 3 in 2011, so our goal from the beginning was to attract new audiences worldwide. Our overarching vision is to return to the original Valkyria Chronicles’ roots, while building on improvements from the rest of the series. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the culmination of everything we’ve learned up to this point."
