Back in August, a new instalment in the irreverent Saints Row video game series was announced to a mixed reception. Some were simply excited for their favourite action-adventure series to be coming back, some were put off by the fact that it's a reboot. Regardless, at the time is was set to launch on February 2022; that is no longer the case.
Earlier today, a statement was released over on the official Saints Row website from Jim Boone, chief creative director at Volition. This statement outlines that the team of developers who are currently hard at work on the upcoming game believe they need more time to finish polishing aspects, to ensure that it will be the best Saints Row game to date.
"The team just need more time to do our vision justice; we’re doing some fine tuning and there won’t be much change in the game outside of overall quality and polish," Boone explains.
"Rest assured, there will not be any changes to the story or the characters or anything that we’ve lovingly imagined over the last few years and already shared with you." This portion of the statement pertains to the stylistic changes that were met with somewhat of a negative reaction by fans back when the game was revealed. Volition has made it clear that they won't back down in that regard.
Though it may seem unfortunate, delays are actually a positive in the end as it's much better to receive a polished game than one rife with glitches and whatnot simply because a studio refused to delay it. Saints Row is now set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 22nd, 2022. We will be sure to keep you updated with any further updates.
