In January of this year, Bandai Namco made the surprising announcement that they had teamed up with developer Tamsoft to work on a video game based on the popular Captain Tsubasa series, and that this new title would be releasing at some point later this year.
For those unfamiliar with Captain Tsubasa, it is a popular series of manga and anime that focuses on a team of football players(or soccer, depending on where you are), but the series' charm comes from the fact that every match is extremely over the top; making everything look way more dramatic and technical than it does in real life.
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is no different, as it gives players the chance to play as some of their favourite teams/characters from the popular Captain Tsubasa series, while also giving them the opportunity to create their own in-game avatar and learn the powerful, and over the top techniques that their favourite characters use.
Bandai Namco and developer Tamsoft have explained that this is no ordinary football game, so don't confuse it with your typical FIFA or PES title, since this is actually an arcade-style football game, which perfectly allows players to take full control of the characters and break a few laws of physics.
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions has actually become available today for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and Bandai Namco has shared a new gameplay trailer to let everybody know that the game is finally here; showcasing everything the game has to offer, while also showing off some of those over the top techniques players will be able to pull off.
