As the first Star Wars game in years to allow players to explore worlds in a non-linear fashion, expectations are unsurprisingly high for EA and Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. And with the game set to launch next month, new details on the title have been released in the hopes of further enticing prospective players.
Already we've learned that through the hub ship Stinger Mantis players can quickly travel from one planet to another, but now we've learned a new piece of info about how travel on a specific world will work. Namely, producer Blair Brown has confirmed that players won't be able to fast travel to different parts of a planet that they are currently exploring.
"A lot of the game is traversal, re-traversal, and exploration," Brown told US Gamer before explaining why they chose to forgo this common gameplay mechanic. "Not having fast travel encourages the player to go off the beaten path; find quick routes, and master the level. Also as you play through you’ll see some stuff that you wouldn’t if you fast traveled through the critical path every time."
While the idea of encouraging gamers to further explore the planets they are inhabiting sounds great, it will be interesting to see how players respond to this creative decision, as this aspect could become tedious and frustrating if there are no new details to discover.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2019.
