To celebrate the launch of
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege's fourth year of post-launch support, Ubisoft is overhauling the game's editions. The French company is making some major changes to how you purchase the highly successful multiplayer shooter, as
Siege’s Starter Edition has been officially removed from all stores, with all owners receiving a completely free update to the regular game.
In addition to that, the game's base version is dropping in price to $19.99 permanently. During the ongoing earnings conference call, Ubisoft confirmed that
Siege will not receive a free-to-play treatment anytime soon, so the title's base version will be the best way to buy into
Siege for quite some time.
The renowned cost to unlock operators has been lowered as well, saving players “
up to 150 hours of gameplay,” according to Ubisoft. While some changes are also coming to the Deluxe and Gold Editions, the Ultimate Edition is the one that should interest you the most, as the priced at a hefty $95 version "
unlocks all DLC Operators in-game through the end of Year 3, as well as the benefits of the Year 4 Pass (Operators included). This version grants access to every DLC Operator: Buck, Frost, Blackbeard, Valkyrie, Caveira, Capitão, Hibana, Echo, Mira, Jackal, Ela, Zofia, Ying, Lesion, Dokkaebi, Vigil, Lion, Finka, Maestro, Alibi, Maverick, Clash, Nomad, Kaid, plus all Year 4 Operators when they release. "
To celebrate the launch of Year 4 and these new editions of
Rainbow Six Siege, all versions of the game will have an introductory discount for up to 70% for a limited time, Ubisoft has recently announced.
The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.
