Following the prematurely ratings listing,
Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip has officially been announced.
Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip is described as a
"a ridiculously fun top-down twin-stick shooter featuring local co-op multiplayer for up to four players." The game is being developed as a tie-in to the post-apocalyptic zombie comedy franchise, including the original 2009 film and its upcoming sequel,
Zombieland: Double Tap. As such, you and your friends can play as one of the four original characters - Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock - and blast away at zombies. Additional characters from the upcoming sequel will also be unlockable.
Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip will feature a story mode as well as a wave-based horde mode, and will also offer daily and weekly challenges. The press release mentions
"special abilities" and
"an arsenal of weapons," at your disposal. But the true key to survival will be remembering
"the essential Zombieland rules for suvival."
A
trailer for Zombieland 2: Double Tap, which comes 10 years after the release of the first Zombieland, debuted last week. Stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin are returning as the four apocalypse survivors who refer to themselves as the names of cities. They'll be joined by Rosario Dawson (
Daredevil), Thomas Middleditch (
Silicon Valley) and Luke Wilson (
Old School) - whose characters will presumably be unlockable in the game. Dan Aykroyd (
Ghostbusters) and Bill Murray are also set to make cameo appearances as fictionalized versions of themselves.
Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip is set to release on October 15 for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, while the upcoming sequel movie hits theaters October 18. The game is developed by High Voltage Software with GameMill Entertainment publishing it.
