Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Nintendo's
Super Smash Bros. series, has recently revealed some very interesting details about the crossover fighting series, as a whole, as well as the development of
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
This new information comes from Masahiro Sakurai's newest book, and was translated by SmashBoard.com user
Ayumi Tachibana, so we don't really have official quotes from the book but rather general topics Sakurai touched upon.
First things first, we've got some bad news for those people who still think, and hope, that
Dragon Ball's Goku will be joining
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at time, as Sakurai really doesn't think neither Iron Man, Goku, or any other mainstream character of the sort will make it into the game.
In regards to a new Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot like the one that made possible for Bayonetta to join
Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS, Sakurai mentions that he's not planning on doing that again for
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as it was already used a lot in the game's development.
On Bayonetta joining, he also reveals that she was the first to be picked of the realisable characters, but she wasnt the first choice — as other characters like
Metal Gear Solid series' Snake got more votes but Nintendo couldn't get the rights to introduce them in the game; even when Snake had been a guest character in
Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
An interest detail is that Sakurai mentions he isn't too fond of the Season Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as he doesn't like players paying for content they haven't fully disclosed yet.
Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
