Nintendo has recently updated their official Customer Support website, revealing that the eShop — Nintendo's online store — will be closing down in July. Don't worry, though, since this won't really affect every one, as this is only for Latin American and Caribbean Nintendo 3DS and Wii U online stores.
According to Nintendo's official announcement, the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U eShop will close down on the 31st of July, and will affect 42 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean; Brazil and Mexico will not be affected by this, however.
The following is the full list of countries in which the eShop will no longer be accessible:
Anguilla, Antigua/Barbuda, Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Cost Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent/Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, US Virgin Islands, Uruguay, Venezuela.
The good news is that most, if not all, players use the North American eShop any way — especially since most of these countries' online stores barely had any content in them. With that said, those players who do use their country's designated store should probably redeem codes, redownload their games, or purchase new titles they may want before the stores close down.
While we have mentioned this earlier, it is still worth reminding players that this will not affect the North American/European & Middle Eastern/Asian Nintendo 3DS/Wii U eShop; it goes without saying that this also won't affect any of the regions for the Nintendo Switch's eShop.
If you are one of the players that will be affected by the closing down of the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U eShop, we encourage you to visit the official Nintendo Customer Support website by clicking right here; where they explain the steps to follow if you want to redeem codes, purchase games, or redownload games you may have purchased and eventually deleted.
