A patent filed by Nintendo may confirm that they are planning on bringing back the 'Donkey Konga Drums' as well as a typing keyboard for, seemingly, online features. According to IGN, the patent had been filed in August 2017 but was recently made public. Take a look.

What's interesting is that the drums were a peripheral for the GameCube and used specifically for the title Donkey Konga released in 2003 and its sequel Donkey Konga 2 released a year later. This could confirm that either Donkey Konga is making a comeback, or that the Nintendo Switch will soon be able to run GameCube games on the yet-to-be-announced Virtual Console. On the other hand, the keyboard was also another peripheral that was used on the GameCube for games like Sega's Phantasy Star Online

Hopefully we don't have to wait too much to get some answers after yesterday's announcement that a Nintendo Direct presentation will be streamed later today.
