Nintendo announced earlier today that they will be soon releasing the popular Nintendo Switch console in Brazil, and that more details will be shared in the near future via their social media accounts; giving details about this exciting news to Brazilian customers.
Now, why exactly is this such a big news? It turns out that Nintendo announced in January of 2015 that they were pulling out of Brazil, and that the reasoning behind this decision had to do with the South American country's high taxes and tariffs, which made selling consoles difficult.
Brazilian customers have claimed that Nintendo consoles can cost up to twice the manufacturer's suggested retail price — meaning that a Nintendo Switch console that retails for $299.99 USD, could cost Brazilian customers up to a staggering $600 USD; not to mention that this also applied to games themselves.
Since 2015, Brazilian players have had to purchase their Nintendo products outside of their country, which could result in them spending even more money for both hardware and software; making video gaming quite an expensive activity.
Nintendo officially announcing that the popular Nintendo Switch console will soon become available in Brazil is definitely some great news. Hopefully this also means that consoles and video games won't be as expensive as they were before Nintendo left in 2015, but we'll have to wait until more official information is shared by the company.
