Obsidian Entertainment's
Pillars of Eternity has been announced for Nintendo Switch and will be released for the hybrid console next month on August 8. Officially dubbed
Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition, the Switch version will include the complete RPG adventure - with the major updates form the original PC version - along with its previously released DLC,
The White March: Parts I & II.
Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition will launch with the raised level cap, expanded party AI options, and new difficulty levels
"to build out the ultimate RPG adventure." The game features deep customization, allowing players to choose from eleven different classes across six available races. A reputation system and decision-making creates a unique story for every player - with choices having far reaching consequences.
Pillars of Eternity was originally released for PC back in 2015 after a successful Kickstarter with over 70,000 backers. The game released to critical acclaim and was praised for its immersive world and writing, and strategic combat. It was brought to Xbox One and PS4 in 2017. A sequel,
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, was released for PC in 2018 and will also be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2019.
Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition is serves as a way to familiarize Switch owners with the RPG adventure ahead of
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, which Obsidian Entertainment and Versus Evil will share more information about at upcoming events like Gamescom and PAX.
